María Conchita Díaz

María Conchita Díaz, a Zapotec filmmaker from Oaxaca, studied Film Directing at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC). Her 2024 thesis La Soledad won the BAFTA Student Award and the Yugo Student Choice Award, making her the first Mexican and Latin American recipient. She co-founded IXMATI Films, producing acclaimed features such as Gueixhuba and 8 Venado Garra de Jaguar, and is currently developing Ascio o Día sin Sombra.
