RESIDENCY
A five-week residency in Oaxaca for artists, cultural workers, and thinkers working across disciplines.
From September through April, Pocoapoco brings together international and local Oaxacan participants to think, work, discuss and collaborate —building a shared space for exchange, reflection, and collective inquiry.
The Pocoapoco residency is a five-week program centered on shared practice and ongoing dialogue. Each session brings together a small group of participants to spend time together—working, discussing, questioning, and responding to one another’s ideas and processes.
We consider active observation, conversation and reflection as essential to building new ways of coming together and creating together across locations, disciplines and practices.
The relationships and dialogues that develop during the residency continuously inform our educational programs, exhibitions and additional projects. Through ongoing collaborations, we aim continue to learn from and strengthen the network of artists, cultural and social workers that come together here.
Each residency cohort is made up of four international residents and four local residents.
Overview
→ Residency Structure
The five-week session balances:
Structured gatherings
Resident presentations
Resident led public workshops
Final open studio
Independent work time
Meals & informal exchange
Workshops and presentations are distributed throughout the residency, creating a shared structure without defining the experience. Much of the residency unfolds through daily proximity—conversation, meals, and time spent together.
