Material Studies: Conversations on Material Resources and Ecology
About
↓
This workshop is a unique opportunity for collaboration and discussion with artists, researchers, and projects working at the intersection of contemporary art practice and ecology.
Through dialogues, studio visits, hikes, and shared practices with artists and agricultural workers, this five-day workshop invites you to explore personal and communal relationships to natural materials in creative practices – as well as the impact their use has on the environment.
We are interested in the interdisciplinary and culturally specific uses of and connections to each material and maker, as well as opening critical conversation surrounding the opportunities and repercussions tied to use of natural materials by individuals and communities.
Led in collaboration with artist Julio Barrita.
