For the past five years, the Language of Making has offered creative practitioners across fields & mediums a platform to explore language as a tool for reflection and critical thought — gaining greater clarity about the questions, intentions, and ideas that shape one’s creative practice. Through collective dialogue, presentations, readings, and writing exercises, participants examine and strengthen the connection between who they are and what they make.

The Language of Making at Pocoapoco is a week-long intensive program, that includes studio visits, along with daily meals & resident housing to supplement the daily workshops.

Program details

Through introspective exercises, group discussions, individual meetings, presentations, readings, and writing exercises, participants cultivate their ability to articulate the core ideas shaping their practice. The workshop emphasizes the transformative potential of writing and dialogue in clarifying intentions, organizing thoughts, and fostering meaningful exchanges. Each day focuses on a distinct aspect of the creative process, providing participants with opportunities to rethink their approach to all stages of making.

During the final two days of the program, participants present the results of their week-long investigations. These presentations, followed by group feedback, take place in a supportive yet critical environment designed to offer thoughtful, constructive insights.
